From JetParcel to Ship966: Redefining Logistics with Precision and Purpose

We spoke with Syed Waheed, CEO of Ship966, about building a logistics brand driven by customer trust, operational excellence, and Saudi Arabia's evolving business landscape.

Can you share a brief note about yourself?

I’m Syed Waheed, the CEO of Ship966, formerly JetParcel. With a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, I’ve built Ship966 to prioritize customer-centric solutions, reliability, and precision in operations. My approach combines strategic thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of global shipping operations.

Why did you choose to start a business?

I’ve always been passionate about logistics and business efficiency. Starting my own venture allowed me to implement innovative solutions, ensure reliability for clients, and create a brand that truly values operational excellence. With Saudi Vision 2030 paving the way for modernization, I saw a great opportunity to contribute and grow within this evolving landscape.

How did you start your business?

The early days were full of challenges, but I navigated them by leveraging my expertise in Courier Parcel Express, freight forwarding, forming strategic partnerships, and refining Ship966’s branding. Misk Foundation played a key role, providing guidance, support, and opportunities to scale our vision into a thriving business. Their backing, coupled with my focus on precision in logistics, helped establish trust with clients and ensure smooth operations. Transitioning from JetParcel to Ship966 required careful messaging to ensure continuity while highlighting the evolution of our services.

What do you wish you’d known before you started your business?

I wish I had known the extent to which operational challenges, market shifts, and regulatory changes can impact day-to-day logistics. While experience has taught me how to balance strategy with execution, earlier awareness of financial principles like accrual vs. cash accounting and regulatory contexts like ETS costs would have helped refine decision-making sooner.

Did you have any support in your journey?

Absolutely. Misk Foundation’s mentorship and initiatives provided crucial resources during our early days and throughout our growth. Additionally, collaborations with industry experts, business connections, and strategic partners helped broaden our reach and refine our operations. Technology played a key role, allowing me to optimize workflows, branding, and customer communication efficiently.

What is your greatest challenge as a business owner?

Balancing competitive pricing with operational reliability is a constant challenge. Clients expect speed, precision, and affordability, yet maintaining quality while adapting to market fluctuations and unforeseen disruptions requires strategic decision-making.

What advice would you give to your past self before opening your own business?

I’d tell myself to stay adaptable, invest in scalable solutions early on, and maintain a strong focus on branding and communication. The ability to clearly communicate your vision to clients, partners, and employees is just as vital as operational expertise.

Reflecting on your path to entrepreneurship, what key piece of advice would you offer to aspiring founders?

Understand your industry inside and out, but don’t hesitate to innovate. Success in business comes from a balance between technical expertise and strategic thinking. Build strong partnerships, embrace technology, and always prioritize customer trust—that’s the foundation for sustainable growth.
