At OCTA, we know finance teams aren't one-size-fits-all. Different team members need different levels of access to do their best work—without the clutter or risk of over-permissioning. That's why we've introduced two new user roles: AR Specialist and Read-Only.

AR Specialist

This role gives team members access to accounts receivable-related modules, so they can focus on what they do best—chasing payments, resolving issues, and managing cash flow—without seeing sensitive data.

Read-Only

Perfect for advisors, leadership, or anyone who needs visibility without the ability to make changes. For more on how OCTA supports modern AR teams at scale, see Choosing the Right AR Automation Software in the UAE and Top AI Tools for Automating Accounts Receivable in 2026.

Why Role-Based Access Matters in AR

Over-permissioning is one of the most common configuration mistakes in finance software. When every team member has admin-level access, the risk of accidental changes to live workflows, incorrect payment postings, or unauthorized configuration changes is real. A junior AR analyst adjusting the wrong reminder template, or a contractor with full export access to customer payment data, creates both operational and compliance risk.

The AR Specialist role is designed for the most common use case in growing finance teams: a collections-focused team member who needs to see invoice status, send reminders, log calls, and escalate overdue accounts — but doesn't need to configure workflows, change settings, or access sensitive financial reports. By giving this profile its own role, teams can bring on dedicated AR staff without granting them access to parts of the platform that could cause problems if misused.

The Read-Only role addresses a different need: visibility for stakeholders who need to stay informed without the ability to make changes. CFOs reviewing the AR pipeline, external advisors doing due diligence, or board members checking cash position — all benefit from a view-only profile that keeps them informed while protecting the integrity of live processes.
