Bridging Healthcare with Tech: Shahid Khan’s Journey with Doctak.net

After nearly 20 years in pharmaceutical sales, Shahid Khan saw a gap in how doctors access tools, knowledge, and collaboration. His response? Doctak.net — a smart, AI-powered platform reshaping the way physicians and medical students connect, learn, and grow.

Can you share a brief note about yourself?

I come from a pharmacy background and have spent nearly two decades in pharmaceutical sales across the UAE. Today, I’m the Founder and CEO of Doctak.net, a specialized, AI-powered platform designed to connect physicians and medical students through smart networking, clinical tools, and region-specific medical resources. Our mission is to empower the medical community by combining intelligent technology with real clinical needs.

Why did you choose to start a business?

I saw a clear gap in how physicians access digital tools, peer collaboration, and trusted resources. I wanted to transform this experience using intelligent technology and fulfill all the essential needs doctors have through one single, integrated platform.

How did you start your business?

It began with a simple idea during my time in the field . I validated the need, assembled a skilled development team, and built Doctak.net from the ground up. The early days were about listening to doctors, iterating fast, and staying committed to solving real problems.

What do you wish you’d known before you started your business?

That not every good idea needs to be perfect from day one . speed of execution and adaptability are more valuable than waiting for ideal conditions.

Did you have any support in your journey?

Yes, I’ve been fortunate to receive strategic guidance from mentors and industry professionals, and I’ve leveraged a strong network across healthcare and tech to navigate critical phases.

What is your greatest challenge as a business owner?

Balancing long-term vision with daily execution , especially in a fast moving tech environment where priorities can shift quickly.

What advice would you give to your past self before opening your own business?

Stay bold, but build with patience. Every setback has a purpose if you’re learning from it.

Reflecting on your path to entrepreneurship, what key piece of advice would you offer to aspiring founders ?

Start with a clear problem worth solving then stay relentlessly focused on the user. Vision is important, but execution is everything.
